It's the fabric we never talk about, yet the one our customers ask for by name once they've tried it. Wrinkle-resistant crepe doesn't look like anything spectacular on a hanger. It's when you wear it that it sets itself apart.
What "wrinkle-resistant" means
The term is a shortcut. The fabric wrinkles like any other, but it regains its shape on its own in a matter of minutes. The twist of the yarn and the weave give it a memory. When the tension is released, the fiber snaps back.
In practical terms: a three-hour train ride, your jacket tossed on the seat next to you, and you step off without looking like you slept in it.
What it's really for
Two situations, primarily. Office days when you're sitting down, where creases at the knees and the small of the back are visible by 3 PM in any other material. And travel, where you no longer have to worry about an iron.
That's why it appears so often in work wardrobes. We’ve dedicated an entire page to it: building an office wardrobe.
How to recognize it by touch
It feels dry, slightly grainy, never slippery. If you bunch a piece in your hand and open your fist, the crease vanishes before your eyes. Ordinary crepe holds the fold.
Not to be confused with fluid diagonal crepe, which has more drape and is better suited for dresses and loose cuts, or drapery fabric, which is dressier and more prone to wrinkling.
Care
Machine wash at 30 degrees, gentle spin, and most importantly: hang up immediately while still damp. It finishes reshaping itself as it dries. No tumble drying, as it destroys the very twist that makes the fabric so special.
If a stubborn crease remains, a quick steam is all it needs. Do not use a flat iron.
What we offer
We offer blazers, tailored trousers, and a few coordinating pieces in the same fabric. When the jacket and trousers share the same dye lot, they can be worn together seamlessly. Separately, each piece stands perfectly on its own.
The logic behind these sets is explained in the tailor's guide, and all our coordinating pieces can be found in our suits.
